Youth and the General Election 2015: Time to stop the slide

With the 2015 general election looming in just under two months, it seems extremely timely to examine how the fortunes of young people have shifted over the past two electoral cycles. IF has taken ten of the indicators from the now well-established Intergenerational Fairness Index to see how they have changed during the period from 2005 until the most recent data became available. This indicates conclusively that the position of young people has got significantly worse over this period, particularly since the beginning of the deepest recession since the 1930s in 2008.

These findings should serve as a wake-up call to politicians that they need to get serious about doing more to help young people if don’t want their situation to deteriorate even further.
